Satellite radio external antenna

I think you're trying to mix apples and oranges. I'm not familiar with your rig or the Genesis but an aux satellite radio antenna is an entirely different thing than a media cable input

Unless you have a metal roof, just put the sat radio antenna up in the top of a cabinet, right up near the roof. It will probably work fine, and you won't have to run a wire outside at all. On our motor home, it works great up under the fiberglass front cap.

Maybe I'm not explaining this well. I want to use the satellite TV cable because it runs from the outside to the inside. I don't have satellite TV so the cable isn't hooked up to anything inside, it just terminates at the telly. I want to plug my satellite antenna to the outside male cable terminal and use the inside end of that cable to plug into my XM.
This will negate having to run the antenna out through a window or past a slide seal.
I hope oit makes more sense now.

I'll give this a try. However, I have had to move the antenna around a site to avoid trees, so adding a roof's thickness to the equation may not work.

Correct. I just want to use the existing wiring to avoid putting my antenna wire out a window. And, yes, I'm looking for an apples-to-oranges adaptor.

just so you know..I have a magnetic 'hockey puck' style sat radio antenna. I've placed it in the cabinet above the driver's seat on our class A and it receives just fine in that location.

With some adapters I am sure it could be done. The only concern would be about the cable mismatch. RG6, the sat tv cable, is a 75ohm cable. I am not sure but I would suspect the sat radio antenna cable would be a 50ohm cable. Might get some signal loss by using the RG6 for the antenna connection. But this is just a guess. Try it and see how it works. It should not cost too much to try.

Ok... here is some interesting reading.

And... if you're feeling REALLY froggy... this will keep you occupied for a minute or two. :)

Apparently, the 75ohm sat cable CAN be used because the loss per foot is less than the factory XM antenna cable. Who knew??? :W

Wow, blangen, that's what I need. But at 40 bucks for the two cables my cheap nature is kicking in.
Imma gonna try the internal mount first.
