Sea foam test

An old dirty filter will actually filter just as good or better than a new one but impede fuel flow making fuel pump have to work harder. If your clogging fuel injectors I would say you had a comprimised fuel filter allowing debris to pass.

Sea Foam posts come up on here pretty regularly. Just wanted people to know my experience using Sea Foam.

Sea Foam definitely cleans stuff up. But be careful if you've never used it before on the motor you're getting ready to use it on. I used some in a higher mileage engine that caused problems. It freed up stuff really good. To good in fact, it cleaned out the gas tank then those debris plugged up the fuel filter and then plugged up the fuel injectors.

My recommendation for first treatment especially on high mileage motors. Before treatment, change your fuel filter, so you are starting with a clean fuel filter. Then treat with Sea Foam, then change fuel filter every 1,000 miles for 3 times, which is 3,000 miles then change fuel filter every 3,500 miles a couple times, then back to what ever your normal schedule. That should save you from fouling out your injectors.

My experience was on a 5.4 and I got pretty fast at changing filters and could trouble shoot which injector got fouled and could change out a fouled injector in less than 30 min and I also carried 2 spares.

I've read 12 months of posts in this forum(tech issues) specifically and saw this come up often, especially in relation to generators. I figured to see some "real world" tests showing that it may infact work would benefit the forum as a whole. Of course i'm not saying it's the end all and who knows he could be sponsored. Just another data point to consider.

@cbshoestring, yeah i've watched a few videos now. Some results were interesting and others were not surprising.

Like with the fuel system cleaners like gumout, it seems that if you use them from day 1 when the vehicle is new there may be some merit that they could keep things clean.

He DID use it in a car, just like he said he planned on doing. He has videos where he tested a few other additivities and has many tips for cleaning windshields, headlights, etc... He has even posted a follow up (one year later) for his headlight cleaning video.

If you don't want to use seafoam...DON'T. But why claim someone is being fraudelent just cause they shared what they have discovered.

Excellent post and I feel the same way. The kid did many of us a favor and IMO, is trying NOT to be a shill for any company.

I actually took the time to watch several of the guys videos.

I shoveled once shortly after 5:00, so the wife could go to work, next shovelling is going to be performed by the 23 yr old who is still in bed.

I can waste a Saturday watching videos.

The guy is actually is trying to see what works and what does not. He is then sharing his discovery with Youtube subscribers. Why throw the guy under the bus claiming he is "pusher for seafoam" :h

Only thing water did back in the old days was "shock" the combustion chamber with massive steam and pressure. It was the same concept as fracking is being used today. I big shock that creates micro fractures in a solid substance, in this case carbon buildup.
