SK-3005 can't find DirecTV 110 ?

As far as going back to satellite school, I've been into broadcast satellite since the early 80's, and as a consultant since the late 70's, built several permanent and mobile uplinks, so please don't patronize me.

Yes, the 3005 uses 101, 110, and 119 to align itself on, but now it's missing 110 which causes it to wander about until it gives up. The question of the hour is: are all 3005's doing this or just mine, keeping in mind that the 3 transponders used by DTV on 110 and this alignment are off the air, or switched to a spot beam elsewhere?

There is an asterisk next to all three of mine at this time. I also check the signal strength on the tv and it is over 95 here in Central Florida.

While traveling the North East I found that 119 would often not work. I guess that bird was just a bit too low for the tall trees. Losing 110 is possible if you are parked in front of palm trees. I found this out. Moved a foot and it came alive. You said nothing has changed so if that is the case what other parts do you have between the dish and the tv? I understand you are a tech and since I am a tech I know that sometimes one gets the palm to the head when bantying things about.

In the last few days I added a SWM kit to my 4 output Travler. This device required all four of the outputs to be fed into it. I'm guessing it just fires up each lnb and sends those down one wire.

If you are not getting any signal on your tv I highly suspect the lnb. Or in my case with four wires, perhaps a connector is loose and not letting power get to the head of the dish. If you have multiple cables that is where I would start.

If CA Traveler is correct about the PR market then you probably are seeing the edge of that footprint. As mentioned, I don't see 110 at all either in the RV or at Home on the west coast. I can't find a current DTV Xponder assignment sheet newer than 2009, and my friend who was VP of Engineering over at Direct is now gone but it sure sounds like 110 is now invisible in the west. Let me call our station in San Juan and see what they see on 110

I missed you stating both the rv and home receivers were not seeing it. Must be in the fine print. It might be worth a call to Directv.

When making some changes to my setup by telling my receivers to look at a different dish setup, (because of satellite blockage), I forgot to reset one of them and had missing channels. The online help person was taking me through various setups and then I did the head bump thing. Oh yeah, had to reset the receiver back to the proper settings.

I am not suggesting this is the issue of course but just relating that I had good luck with their help. Who knows, your account may just need a refresh or some upgrades.

The problem that the OP has is that his 3005 uses the 101, 110 and 119 to lock the dish. The 3005 is inline before the receiver so DIRECTV can do nothing because without the 110 his never locks so the receiver never gets a signal. All he needs is for someone that has a 3005 to see if there system will lock on without the 110 or if it is just his unit having problem. I would fire mine up except that mine is under cover for the Winter.

If you read the posts his dish does lock in and that is not his concern. Also if you do get 110 in Maryland it may/may not be available in his California location.

My point about head bumping. Of course you are right.

It does finally get there, just without 110, and it takes 15 mins to finally lock and shut off. I agree about a west coast verification on this (please?). If this really is an issue with satellite realignment then I think Winegard owes us all firmware updates.

You are still are on the old satellites. 110 and 119 are phased out since the SWM system came out.
