SK-3005 can't find DirecTV 110 ?

Anyone else having this problem? As of today there is no carrier off of the three transponders on 110 used by DIRECTV, so it really doesn't matter, but the dish takes at least 15 minutes to align it self, even if I stow and re-deploy from the same location (which used to require no searching at all), and once finally done, the control box shows that 110 was NOT found. My guess is that's what's causing it to take so long and it finally gives up.

Winegard is blaming it on a dead LNB, but I see the same zero carrier at home and am beginning to wonder. Anyone else seeing this anomaly ?

  • My 3005 failed at 14 months and Winegard never did figure out exzctly what was wrong. I have a Birdog sat meter, so I was able to confirm the main board was dead. On mine the 3005 would spend about 15 minutes searching and finally park never finding a sat. To check further you really need a meter. It might be worth a few bucks to you to hire a sat tech to verify there is truely a signal or not.
  • Direct TV used 101, 99 and 103. Where did you come up with 110?
By the way 101 is SD
    99 and 103 is HD.
Better go back to satellite school
  • BTW I switched both home and RV to SWM so 110 is no longer in my wheelhouse.
  • Jeff,

So your dish use 110 for some reference point??? You probably know that there are no US channels on 110 but some Puerto Rico market channels. Maybe DTV changed the beam map for 110? Of course you could have 2 bad LNBs - never mind I didn't say that.

    I find the 101.
but can you find 110 ?
my swm hd service doesn't use 110. it uses 99, 101 and 103. I'm only saying this thinking there's a chance you may be looking for the wrong bird.

New LNBs are fairly cheap, so its probably worth replacing it as a test. If you have a meter you should be anle to check for continuity.
They are around $50 on eBay, but I question if I have a problem at all since none of the three transponders on 110 are on the air. What I also don't know is if the Traveller looks only at carrier on one of the assigned transponders or it's looking at the beacon carrier. If the latter is true, then yes, I need to replace the LNB. But short of spending the $$$ I'd first be curious is anyone elses's 3005 is failing the 110 search?
