- js218Explorer^^^^^^ Sunoco 93 octane contains 10% ethanol, thats my reason for adding red Stabil to all my equipment.
- JimK-NYExplorer III live in NY and have never seen non-ethanol fuel for sale. It is a shame because it seems to be mostly just a subsidy for the ag industry without any positive environmental impact.
- Dave_H_MExplorer IIA long time ago, seems like on here, someone posted a home grown version of Sta Bil gleaned from the ingredients from the MSDS sheet. It works for me but there is no additive specified for the Aromatic ingredient. :W
- B_O__PlentyExplorer IINon-oxy fuel and I use nothing in it while I store my lawn equipment over the Winter months. Never a problem.
B.O. - mcheroExplorerI see a product up here called TrueFuel. Ethanol free. Also sells a 2 stroke fuel. Never used it but seriously considering.
- BoomerwepsExplorerNobody's seen Pri-G?
There's also a Pri-D for diesel.
Supposed to stabilize fuel for several YEARS. It's the prepping websites and post apocalyptic stories' darling. Can usually be found at marinas or mail order. It supposed to even rejuvenate (or at least make useable gas & diesel that has been sitting for a while.
So far the Pri-G works in the stuff I've put it in. - GjacExplorer IIITo answer your question directly I prefer Seafoam over Stabil because it does two functions, stabilizes the gas and cleans the fuel system. In practice I don't add anything to my gas for winter storage. I run the genset several times under load during the winter anyways so I don't drain the carburetor. I use the Seafoam in the spring in a gallon gas tank and run the genset to clean the carburator. Every other year or so I will pour Seafoam down the TBI of the 454 engine and clean it out along with the tow car and add Seafoam to the lawnmower tank to clean it out. I also use it in the crankcase of both engines and am amazed at the carbon buildup that comes out when I drain the oil. Lately I have been using Berryman's B-12 also, it works also and is cheaper. As far as how long is too long if I were going to store gas for two or more years I would use Stabil less Seafoam.
- I use good ole fashion non ethanol ( cheapest rating I can get ) in all my stuff sitting in the shed... IF it starts to show signs of rough running, I toss in some Seafoam..
- ksg5000ExplorerI use Seafoam in my mowers/chippers etc. Nothing in my RV/cars and nothing in the 30 gallons of emergency gas I keep on hand (which gets cycled out a couple times a year).
- BumpyroadExplorerI forgot to mention, nothing but ethanol free gas in my stuff.
