That will help cut down on the static charge between the trailer frame and earth, but it won't do anything to stop static charge from developing between one's own body and the trailer. For that, you'd also need a strap between your body and the trailer (or earth, if the trailer has a ground strap), which is rather inconvenient to say the least.
