Static electricity

Problem exists between shoes and carpet.

Possible solutions include:
Add humidity to RV
Change shoes/go barefoot

Since you are INSIDE the RV. though I will not rule out completly the posibility of a wiring problem.. the odds are low.

I did have a trailer once where it WAS a wiring problem, but I see that has already been addressed in another post. This trailer however was mostly plastic. To get a shock I had to touch two pieces of metal one of which was INSULATED from teh frame and one of which waS not. Turns out the orignal owner could not tell the difference between black aND white wires.

12% is way to low. You need a humidifier.

It is not "harmless". It can seriously damage electronic components, and ignite gas fumes (such as leaking propane).

Living in Arizona, we sometimes get humidity levels around 5%. I swear when you walk across a carpet, you can create your own lightning bolts. The easiest solution is to run a humidifier during these low humidity times. Another option is to purchase a can of Static Guard and spray your carpets and furniture. But that can be a little pricey if you have to do it often.

Rub down your rig with dryer sheets. No more static shocks and no more mice....

Note that a static shock is usually just a quick zap and that is all. A elecgrical ground problem, will be felt every time, and may be a continous thing. Try unplugging from shore power and see if it still happens. That should be your first check. Not just turning off the breaker, actually unplug it.

Are you inside touching stuff inside, or outside standing on the ground touching the rig?? If you are inside, start wearing cotton underpants, if you are getting shocked outside, then you need to find out why, and quick! getting shocked between a rig and ground is not a laughing matter, and means that there is something seriously wrong!

LOW HUMIDITY BLUES...

You can ground the chassis to the earth's core with railroad iron and t ain't gonna help static electricity. Look at the principal of a Leyden Jar. Or better yet stand on a fiberglass ladder wearing rubber boots and grab a spark plug wire.

Go to the hardware/auto parts store. Grab a can of aerosol SILICONE SPRAY LUBRICANT. Take off your shoes. Spray the sole and the heel. Then wipe off the excess lube so it won't stain the carpet. Wipe it good. It doesn't take much lube to work.
