My furnace humidifier come in and it had small damage.
Even the unit looks clean/new the evaporation pad is badly clog with minerals. Somebody put used pad?
Anyway, after looking what it would take to install, and that the humidifier has no fan and is using constant water flow with excess draining all the time, I don't like the idea, especially that working only in 1 zone of the house for 1-2 hr daily it efficiency would be questionable at least.
Found steam whole house humidifier that can operate furnace fan when needed, but this is $700 unit, that takes 11 amp to operate. Ouch.
Did more checking and big portable humidifiers are evaporation-style.
I do have portable swamp coolers already that I used in summer in guest rooms, so now I see the swamp cooler and evaporation humidifier are basically the same machines.
Will give the swamp cooler a try and report back in few days.
