I once worked in a ship's control room with vinyl tile on the deck. When sailing in a dry winter climate, we would get a rude shock after a few steps and then touching controls. We discovered that if we hooked a leather belt on the back of our pants and let it drag on the deck behind us, we got no more static shocks. It became the uniform of the day. -Mark.
Interesting... Here in the high Nevada desert the static is terrible...I just walked over to turn the volume control on a high-end ($$) preamp and the spark was so dang powerful it took out the right channel entirely...Try as I might, I could only conclude that it was fried...After a few calls, a tech told me to turn it back on and leave on for about 30 minutes and try again...Yea, it’s now up and working again!!
