Surge Protection-EMS

I have read most forums regarding protection by Surge guards or EMS systems. It seems that as the RV parks/Campgrounds age, the electrical systems start to get weak. We have stayed at Jackson Rancheria RV park in California. A very nice upscale park. But, now they recommend Surge Protection? I am sure they have had some issues with power and some RV damage. If a newer park like this, built to high standards suggest Surge protection, how about the older parks?
I was surprised to see that on their website. It was not there when I last checked. Looks like I will purchase a PI unit for protection. We do a lot of boondocking with generator, so I have not been in a hurry to add that to the list yet. Anyone else see this suggestion at other parks? Also any experiences with a EMS-Surge guard units?

What you're conveniently neglecting to mention is that your beloved autoformer will do nothing to protect your likewise beloved A/C if the power goes off then comes back on again shortly thereafter, as in 30" later - a case in which an EMS will protect the A/C by delaying power restoration until after A/C compressor head pressure has dropped to a safe level. Subject your A/C to this abuse enough times and you'll be buying a new one - let's see you love your autoformer then. :W
  • Hi,

The microair unit takes care of short cycling.

The EMS units cuts the power and creates the need for short cycling protection. In my opinion 103.5 is too low for the cut out voltage, so you will be the one replacing the air conditioner, not me.

Hmmm - some of these trailer house parking ghetto stories make Mexico seem like Switzerland. A hundred rigs all demanding 50-amp power is the same burden as 25-homes a small sub division. A 300 amp 600-volt three phase service drop would have a transformer the size of a VW Hippie bus.

Methinks that is not the case.

Part of the reason Quicksilver has three one-ton A/C units. The small units withstand low voltage a lot better. If it gets too low they do not even try to restart.
