Surveillance Camera Setups on your RV

Sorry that took awhile to write. I see the new posts now. Good stuff lets talk about cameras.

Reolink's Argus 2 is truly wireless. It runs off of batteries. For $140, you can get the camera with Solar Panel to recharge the batteries. It has 2 way audio and can accept a MicroSD Card. Reolink does not require a subscription for Cloud Storage and it supports both Push and Email.

I have several Reolink RLC-422 5MP cameras on my sticks and bricks. These are IP Cameras that are wired to a POE Switch. Not practical for a RV, but the Argus 2 certainly is.

I've never heard of Wyze Cams, but they look okay. Like Nest Cams and Ring though, they require 120v. An IP Camera gets power from the POE switch. My switches and Cable Modem are on battery backup. Lose power, no problem. Lose power with 120v cameras and you've got nothing.

If i didn't have Amcrest at home I would have bought the Blink system
My neighbor has them and they're battery powered. Lasts up to two years on 2 lithium batteries.
If I set off his camera he sends me a video right away that he can see on his phone.
They make an indoor version that has a small light come on and outdoor version with infra red.
They had deals over the holidays for $78.

Actually the Wyze cameras work on 5V dc. USB powered, so a 12 volt plug in USB adapter works great. That is what I use in my 5er. They record 24/7 to micro SD, whether connected to internet or not. I have a half a dozen of them in use at home, one in the 5er, and a spare.

I am glad to see someone else thinks like I do. I am not paranoid, but I just like playing with new tech. There is nothing wrong with that, and the OP did a great job and has a cool new toy. Good job!

Sure would be nice to see something similar come standard equipment on newer units with additional options like lighting, cameras, and alarms. Many people are traveling with expensive equipment and the such would be beneficial.

I use a wireless arlo camera for mine and seems to be working great. you can place it anywhere, basically. It also works great at night since even if there isn't much light in our place. It's really good but one thing I didn't like much about it is it's quite expensive.

If you have close neighbors get to know them. They are the best watch dogs in the world, and the cost is minimal.
A cookout every once in a while usually does it :)
