Most likely, they are just pushing for you to buy a hitch from them. - opnspacesNavigator II

Bought a new camper. Camper dealer says he can not install our old hitch to our new camper due to liability issues. Is this correct or not.
Without more information it's impossible to tell if this is true or not. It could be that the old hitch is something that for some reason just will not hook up to the new trailer.
Or it could be that their internal policy is to never install a used hitch. - opnspacesNavigator IIJodeb720: That all depends on the hitch. My Equial-i-zer 4 point sway control hitch is both weight distribution and anti-sway all in one package. There are a few other hitches that also combine sway control and weight distribution. So it's entirely possible the dealer is telling the truth.
Best thing your neighbor can do is take the make and model of said hitch and you guys can google it and see what's up. - jodeb720ExplorerMy neighbors just bought a new Travel Trailer and the dealer told them the same thing.
They didn't get a anti-sway device - because the dealer is telling them it's part of the load equalizer hitch...
My BS meter is going off... - Grit_dogNavigatorNo, the stealer is just scammin you to sell another new wdh.
Tow it home and then figure it out. Dealer would overcharge you anyway.
I got one I just about can’t give away. Been used once. I inherited it with our toyhauler. Never used it and the guy I sold it to wouldn’t take it either…lol.
If you truly need a different one for some real reason(idk), I would search for used and save some money. - t-trainExplorer IIThank you.
- ktmrfsExplorer IIwell, likely a reason they are using to get you to buy a new hitch.
although, in todays society with all kinds of frivolous lawsuits I can see dealers not installing something used.
so take the trailer home and install the hitch yourself. probably will get a better setup that way anyway. load the trailer ready to go THEN install and adjust the hitch.
