In 1971 gas in my town was 30 cents per gallon and I worked for a beginning level job just out of the Army: $3.70 per hour. Gas is now nearly 10 times that but that job sure doesn't pay $37.00 per hour.
Ignorance. By some of the posters. In terms of inflation, Gasoline is CHEAPER now than in the past 100 years. IF your paycheck rose in relation to the level of the price of gas, you would be EXTREMLY POOR in 2017. No, I do not work for any Oil Company or have anything to do with the Oil companies. Just have done extensive research and reading on the price of oil and gasoline in the past 100 years as it relates to inflation. A Gallon of bottled water is upwards of $10, yet people BUY it all the time and never complain. Doug - fj12ryderExplorer III

Yes, and it still doesn't really explain what you think is so exceptional. I just passed a station on my way home that had the very same sign. ???fj12ryder wrote:
did you read my reply above?
So "Unleaded" could indeed be a lower grade/octane. So I still don't see anything noticeable. - Mortimer_BrewstExplorer II

Hehe.. yeah.
In 2oldman's OP I take it that the station is selling leaded gas in a couple of grades.
My theory is that all 3 grades of gas are leaded. I base this on the fact that the Uncola was still a cola. Thus it makes sense that Unleaded gas is still leaded. - 2oldmanExplorer II

That brings up a point. I wonder how modern engines would react to good old leaded as? .... Better mileage, more power? - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIIt isn't about the prices
It isn't about inflation costs
IT is SIMPLY about the use of the word 'unleaded' for the lowest priced gas
ALL Gas at your standard regular service/fuel station is UNLEADED
Mid-grade and Premium are UNLEADED also.

The 64 dollar question is, of course.. When will fuel prices adversely impact the RV industry. Keep in mind that is what tanked it last time....
As long as there’s people more than happy to shell out an *EXTRA* $100k for a diesel they’re going to drive maybe 5,000 miles a year the price of gas will be meaningless.
Especially when you consider the price of gasoline in other countries.
I have family in Europe, regular is the equivalent of ~$5.80 / gallon. - Ignorance. By some of the posters. In terms of inflation, Gasoline is CHEAPER now than in the past 100 years.
