Tank is irregular shape
Expansion tank for cooling system
losing antifreeze
Blasted thing is only Two years old
The old one is what lost my coolant in Arizona in May 2012, and me trying to make it to the exit ramp is what burned out the engine
One thing I can do is take it out of the system,
Remove it and bypass it by reconnecting the hoses together
Basically it's an over size overflow tank, except it is part of the pressurized system
I'm going to order a new one, but I need to be able to the RV, but not travel on the freeway - buzzard616ExplorerYou might have to buy a whole set but a tank sensor plug should do it as long as the pressure is reasonable.
Stu - Drill the hole big enough to repair.
- I would get the standard Monitor Panel Well nut (3/8 inch hole to be drilled), insert the well nut and then liberally Loctite the screw threads and install the threaded screw and let sit overnight. There is also a Well nut that does NOT have the removable screw, but threads that will seal this type tank. Doug
This is the 2nd one I would use.

This is the first one

- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerSoak a piece of cotton fuzzball with GOOP. This is messy.
With a wire, jam the soaked cotton into the hole.
Silicone to me is as about as worthless an adhesive or sealer, as they get.
GOOP is not just another brand of silicone. It is unique. Nothing else like it. - christopherglenExplorerCan you access the hole from the inside? If you can fit your hand inside the tank, maybe a small SS screw with a rubber washer on the inside and a nut on the outside.
- pigman1ExplorerSort of need more info. Pressure in the tank, location of the hole and contour of the tank at that point? One possibility might be a patch such as is used on an inflatable boat where a slot is made, an oblong stiffened patch is inserted and fastened with another similar shaped piece on the outside. It all depends on the exact specifications of the tank and hole.
- BurbManExplorer IIDrain the tank, fill the hole with silicone or RTV and drive a self-tapping screw into the hole. The screw will keep the sealant from getting blown off by the pressure.
Option #2: If the tank is small enough, use a small piece of rubber held in place by a large hose clamp around the tank. - Would a tire puncture plug work?
