It could be a lot of different things. As said already fuel pump is probably #1 suspect but a number of the sensors could keep it from starting.
My son had a Pontiac a number of years ago. As the weather got cooler in the fall it wouldn't start for him to go to school but in the afternoon it would start right up. After many different attempts to find the problem I removed the cam sensor to find that it had a coating of fine iron particles on it. I wiped it clean and reinstalled it and it never failed to start again. The computer needs to know where the cam is to know which sparkplug to fire. With the coating on the sensor it couldn't tell where the cam was so it didn't spark.
You can check the fuel pump without a gauge. When it doesn't start depress the Schrader valve and see if gas shoots out. Just be careful you don't get gas sprayed into you eyes.
