VEC1093DBD replacement fan?

My Black and Decker VEC1093DBD charger fan acted up last winter. In below freezing temperatures the fan squeals and takes a while to start running. In warm weather it works fine.

I want to replace the fan before this winter. I took the original out and found it is a 60mm x 20mm fan. Does anyone have recommendations for a replacement?

I have read that the original has sleeve bearings but haven't been able to verify. I also don't know the CFM of the original. I would like to have equal to or more CFM in a ball bearing fan.

I found this one as a candidate;

The original is two wire and this replacement is three wire but it shouldn't matter.

I have read that some used an external fan but I would prefer to stay inside the case. An external fan would be complicated because the air intake and exit are in close proximity on the same side.

Recommendations?
  • If you have to take it apart anyway, try a drop of very thin oil, such as reel of sewing machine oil. Might keep it going for a bit longer.

    There is usually a exposed bearing under the paper sticker. Just don't overdo it.
  • Looks like a standard tower computer, cooling fan. I just put 1 in a ceiling vent in my TT.
    I used the red and black wires only. Light weight, and almost silent.
    Don't know the cfm, probably not much, but you can easily feel it with your hand.
    I'd go for it.
    I leave mine on 24/7 for ventilation. That's what they are made for.
  • An excellent question since mine had been noisy since new.
