IMO with Wets if your float voltage is a bit too high for the temperature, you can just add water. Won't ruin a thing. Those with ruined batts didn't water them.
AGMs can't be watered. Oh-oh :(
If the float voltage is too low for the temperature, you need to do your overcharges (like Equalize on the VEC) more often to make up the difference, sort of.
Too low for the temp with AGMs means trying to "condition" them every so often with no hydrometer to tell you how that is going. Oh-oh :(
