Floating should be a word denoting proper charge rate of batteries in storage. When age defeats a battery it can use water like crazy no matter what the voltage. Many RV's stay connected to a power pedestal for years and the owner simply does not check the battery water level - ever. Many older converters did not have a float storage default and this caused more rapid use of water. Ignorance runs rampant and many owners get upset when they find out they must check battery water level at least twice a year. "I shouldn't have to do that, and I am certainly not pay the price they are asking for AGM batteries" is a cop out. I lose interest instantly when I encounter such diatribes.
