I thought all modern T stats were supposed to 'fail' in the open position?
I know I'm just talking out of my ass here, but it sounds like your repair shop and the 'warranty' company are working together...

I was thinking the same thing! Thermostats are on the Return line from the engine to the top of the radiator. Not sure about the failing open part though.... But I know that if the coolant flows too quick thru the radiator, it won't cool also
