Water heater

We have a Suburban water heater. It worked fine for the first 2 years. This time out,as soon as I hit the switch,it goes to DSI fault.I tried the reset but that didn't work. Gas supply is fine. Any suggestions?

Wait a second, every time I turn on my Suburban 10 gal water heater on gas the DSI light comes on. After the burner lights in about 10 or 15 seconds the light goes out. That's it's normal operation. How long are you letting the DSI light stay on??
You win! When I left switch on, burner lights and DSI light goes out. Prior to this, DSI light would only come on when burner failed to ignite. Thanks

  • You probably have one of the bad controllers. Have you checked for volts at the board input?

Light off stove top burners to place a demand on LP Reg and get propane flow established

Then try water heater again and again.......can take a few attempts to get propane flow established to all propane lines/appliances.

Propane system is only 0.4 psi and water heater (furnace, fridge) have safety features that require flame be proven.

    Try it again....
    Provided it IS Sparking.
I have gas a t the stove. It never gets to spark because ad soon as I hit switch it goes to DSI fault

Suburban did have some control boards that failed.
    As some trouble shooting,
Did you press the reset buttons for both 12VDC and 120VAC?
Have you confirmed you have 120VAC
Have you confirmed you have 120VAC past the crappy outside switch?
Have you confirmed you have the tank full of water?
Yes to all of them. It works on 120volts but not on gas. When I got the sweitch inside the teailer,it shows DSI fault immediately. I was thinking the control board too.
