Water pump

We have a 2012 crossroads slingshot 27RB. This weekend while camping I turned on the water pump for the first time to locate it for winterizing later this month and when I hit the switch .... Nothing ... I found the pump by the water heater. There was no water in the fresh tank could this be the problem ? There is a hose and valve for adding anti freeze to the system. I thought it should run by just hitting the switch. What am I missing ??? The owners manual is no help

Thanks, Joe.

  • They do not run continuously.
They are an 'on demand' pump. Pressure drops they run until pressure is good.
There is a pressure switch on pump......good water pressure...no need for pump to run. (Typically run when pressure drops to 30 psi and shut off when pressure reaches 45 psi----or 40/55 if you have a upgraded pump)
  • Other possibilities - blown fuse, bad switch, bad relay, loose wire, bad pump.
  • IF you are hooked up to city water at the campground the pressure in the lines could be causing the pump switch to think that you do not need the pump. This is how when in dry camp use it knows when to pump.

Release the pressure and is should work.
