Check your user manual as it said to have engine running while draining the water trap on a 2104 Ram 1500.
Did not realize the 1500 has a diesel.
New for 2014, the EcoDiesel, with a 3.0L V6 Fiat engine. The 4x4 CC can tow up to 8,600 and get very good fuel MPG. - road-runnerExplorer IIIx2 on check the user manual. On diesel Sprinter RVs, the book specifies for the engine to be off but the electric fuel pump running.

Did not realize the 1500 has a diesel. - hersheyExplorerPoint of caution: Once y0ou check it, double check to see that it reseated itself properly once you start the engine. I had mine stick open and I lost a lot of fuel until I discovered it hadn't reseated itself.
- hogbobExplorerThank you .
- wolfe10ExplorerIf this is a diesel RV, the primary fuel filter is on the SUCTION side of the lift pump. So the engine needs to be OFF when you open the drain.
Were you to open the drain with the engine running, it would suck air IN from the drain rather than allowing anything to drain out. - Explorer1016ExplorerWhen i check and drain mine I do NOT have engine running.
