Weatherpro Awning

There is a torsional spring opposite end of the motor, like on a garage door. Sounds like it needs to be adjusted. No motor lube that I have ever heard of.

If you are in Q maybe someone there can help you.

I had same problem, but only when the sun was shining on the passenger side of thr motor home. Awning, when retracting, would stop one or more times and after a short period of time, move again. Awning manufacturer representative finally had the right answer. A bad electrical splice in the wall that would "amp out" and stop. It would "amp out" sooner when hot from the sun. Drove me, consequential the dealer and factory people crazy until Newmar put awning rep on yhe phone with us.

You my friend might have hit the nail on the head! I was thinking it was kind of acting like the motor was not getting enough "juice" and today the passenger side was to the sun here in Quartzsite ah about 1/2 way up she stopped, had to wait about 5 minutes and she groaned and finally made it in. I also was having almost the same issues with the awning over the door.
This connection, was it feeding 12 volts to the controller or was it the connection between the controller and the awning motor?
I'll start traacing the wires to the controller to determine where they go. I do know internally they run just above the upper cabinets on the passenger side. Just need to trace where they go down. Could be around the fridge.

Thanks ever so much for the info. I'll sniff it out. Nice that Fleetwood labels the 12vdc wires.

Will update any findings here. Oh, will also retract in the early AM when its cool here in the desert to see if reacts differently.

Thanks for the info about the spring. I do all my own work and I am in RV tech biz as well. Those springs are scarey! I think Howard may have come up with the answer. Thanks for your suggestion!

All you have to do is extend the awning. Disconnect the 2 wire plug at the motor. Connect a 2 wire jumper to the motor and then manually use a battery or 12 volt source to extend and retract during the times it fails. IF it fails with the jumper, it is NOT a splice or loose connection but a weak motor. Electric awnings require more juice to retract to overcome the awning arm spring tension. Doug

Awning over the door acting sluggish as well. 12v to the motor was on the list. Still have the emergency retract kit I was going to use as well, it has the plug and wire so I won';t have to make something up.

Jerry, dougrainer is right on as to how to check. When I was talking to the awning tech I ask him if the wire size could be too small to carry the load. He said he knew for a fact that Newmar put a large enough wire and if it was a wiring problem it would have to be a splice or connection in the system from the controller to the motor. The dealer tech said there was only one splice and that was in a box in the wall behind the passenger seat. He checked it and found a bad splice. Put a new splice in and no more problem. This was all after Newmar told me the problem was and sold me a whole new controller and motor. They did refund my money.

OK, went out this AM and pulled down both Sunscreen and it's drop. Weatherpro stowed w/o issue although a tad sluggish. Same with the awning over the entry door.
Next test, perhaps later this afternoon when it's toasty outside on the awning side is to use the emergency retract (electric) cable.
BTW, anybody know of a part number for this kit. I'm sure many readers do know such kit exists.

I did find the kit I mentioned above, It's called the Auxiliary Operation Kit. Consists of a pull strap and the long red/black cable with the female plug on one end and the other end stripped.
Googled it and you can find it around the 20.00 range.
Did also find many posts on the same topic as this post.
All I need are the PINS for my Weatherpro due to rusting.
