Wfco 75amp converter or inteli-power 9200

I have the wfco 75 amp converter and I think it is going out on me. I was checking on the inteli-power 9200 for a replacement. Do you think it would be a better replacement or should I keep what I have? Thank you for your input.

  • I am collecting old WHIffCO'S for use as single-stage 13.6 volt power supplies for donation to useful public projects down here where a 10-amp battery charger costs 200 US Dollars. If anyone is interested in helping good people please PM me. I get them from San Diego through Mexican Customs into the country. Ramcar is donating (8) group 27 cyclable batteries.
  • Thank you all for your input. I'll be going to Amazon and ordering the 9280. I believe I'll get a voltage readout display also, just to keep a eye on things.

I tried real hard to get my 45AMP WFCO to go into boost charge mode. Changed out to large battery cables moved the WFCO within 6-inches of the batteries and all I could ever was maybe 30 seconds of 14.4VDC BOOST charge.

I suspected I was not dropping my battery charge state low enough to have the WFCO product to kick-in. After a few more low batteries I give up and changed out my WFCO WF8945 converter/charger for a PD9260C. This was back in 2009 and have never had a battery problems since then.

I never could figure out the "why" as almost all of the trailer units come out with the WFCO products... There are also some folks that swear by the WFCO Converter products as well. As stated above there are many many others who get rid of them as soon as they can including myself. Go Figure....

I am still using the WFCO WF8900 series power distribution center with the somewhat brand new WF8945 Converter/charger unit in it. My PD9260C replacement converter/charger is used stand alone just five feet away from my battery banks... I can use either converter/charger by just throwing the proper 120VAC circuit breaker on. This gives me a backup converter/charger setup if needed. I however have never used the WF8945 45AMP Converter/charger since then...

  • I know a guy who has the 100 watt Wfco in his toy hauler. He has never seen 14 volts charging, even on very low batteries. Even tho he had dead batteries all the time, I never did convince him that it wasn't working properly, and that it was a very slow charger. But he did add 240 watts of solar this year, to make up for the POS Wfco's dead batteries all the time.

All I know about the PD converters, is that whatever they do, they do it right !!! They make batteries last forever, and hardly need water once a year.
  • I'd switch even if the WFCO were not acting up. Just search WFCO on this forum and you'll see why. About 1 in 10 WFCO's work as advertised.
