- mcheroExplorerHere is how my house batteries are charged;
I have a LARGE constant duty solenoid that will connect the positive lead drom the house batteries to the positive lead of the house batteries.
While driving down the road a circuit in my electrical panel will check the voltage of the chassis batteries, if they meet a set voltage then the solenoid is energised connecting both house and chassis batteries. House batteries get charged while driving down the road.
When I first purchased the rig I found out real quick that the solenoid needed replaced. The contacts where not making a good connection so I replaced the solenoid.
I also have an AUX START switch on the dash that also energises the solenoid. If my chassis batteries are low to the point where I can't start the engine I can hold that Aux. Start button, it connects both banks thus giving the chassis batteries the juice to crank the main engine. You have to hold this button down for a couple of minutes B4 trying to start. - twainharteartisExplorerI found the house batteries and they look like they are brand new and so do the cables so that makes me very happy. I also found the switch that disconnects the house batteries and I turned the switch on and on came the lights that's so cool. All you guys have been so great I can't thank you enough for all your help.
- mena661ExplorerLights in the house are controlled by light switches on your walls.
- harold1946ExplorerI believe the house batteries on most Damons are under the steps.
- twainharteartisExplorerThanks I just bought this motorhome it's class A I think I may need to replace the house battery's the lights worked inside but now they don't is there a switch on the dash that turns off these lights? There are switch's on the dash and I don't know what all of them do I downloaded an owners manual but it doesn't show the dash. I may have left a light on so were that drained the battery or it may be that the house battery's mat be weak. I have looked to try and find the house battery's but haven't found them yet. The very back of the MH has a door that needs a barrel type key that key I don't have so I will have to get that made then I can check back there. Luckily the engine door use's the same key but it's unlocked so I can get in there.
- YC_1NomadIn a MH the alternator can charge the coach batteries but if they are low it is not the best way and can put a heavy strain on the alternator. If you have been boondocking run the generator for a couple of hours.
- wittmebaExplorerIf you have a electric brake system that requires power in the event of a disconnect from the tow vehicle it should be charged by the tow vehicle/alternator when the motor is running.
They should also charge from shore power when properly connected. - 1492ModeratorMoved from Forum Technical Support

Then I expect the house batteries are being charged while driving as well as being charged while connected to shore power. - harold1946ExplorerTwainharteartist has a class A.
