What info do I need to replace black tank and where to buy?

My black tank fell off (yes, fell off) going through the middle of a town on vacation. It was hilarious and tragic at the same time. Long story short, I have no black tank on my camper.

The tank went in a dumpster, but all of my plumbing is intact and I have a model number (LAN P.19) that was written in Sharpie on the top.

I heard that there is a place in the Pacific NW that carries a lot of NOS tanks and/or can make one based on original dimensions, but I don't know the name of the outfit.

If no one knows the name, what do I need to know to order one, and what is a good source?

  • My black got demolished last year by a rear dual blowout, along w/ all the plumbing, dump valves and all.
I went to my local RV dealer for advice. They called Rexall and got the info for the original OEM tank. As it turned out, I got a new tank from the same tank mfg that made all the original tanks for Rexall (and many others) It came out of the same mold that the original came out of. But I had to locate and cut the 2" vent hole, and the 4" turlet hole. It was a time consuming job, but it turned out great, and the whole job cost me less than $1,000 for the $6800 insurance estimate.

Here's a link to place that can get a holding tank.
Looks like you'll just have to browse thru and see if anything will work.
  • I replaced the black tank in my old Citation rebuild project.

I got under there, measured how big a tank I could put in there, made a drawing of it with the pertinent measurements on it and took it to my local RV parts store, at the dealership I frequent when I need stuff.

They had a catalog of generic tanks and their dimensions so I picked one that would fit.
I did have to provide them with the exact locations of the toilet hole and the vent pipe hole. And of course the drain location.

The new tank came with the proper fittings welded to the tank so all I had to do was install it, then put the toilet flange and vent pipe into it.

It fit perfect, but supplying them with the proper locations of the fittings is crucial.

Hope your tank was empty when you lost it!

I had mine fall out on my last TT. The ONLY thing that stopped it from hitting the highway was the flange got hung up on a stabilizer jack but about 1/2 an inch!! Should have seen my face when I stuck my head under and saw that one!
  • My recommendation would be get a tank that fits in OEM location and strap it in better than OEM
