Thanks Doug. Is the tstat visable or does the refer have to be pulled for access? Marv
I suspect you might get to the thermostat through the roof vent with out pulling the refer. If it were in the slide the upper cover is ideal for accessing this gizmo.
We replaced our thermostat button with an attic fan thermostat from Lowe's It is adjustable and appears to be more consistent in its function. Our unit is in a slide & needs all the help we can provide it.
This is a LOT more work and depending on how the refer lines up with the roof top hole is VERY difficult to access that tstst. I make my living working on RV's and I always pull the refer. Better than trying to access from the top. Also, IF you find that the tstat is OK and the fans are bad, now you have a hole in the roof that must have the cover reinstalled and screwed down and sealed. NEVER cut the mesh screen. If NOT in a slide room you have to pull the refer. VERY common for the tstat to fail after a few years. If you pull and replace, REPLACE the 2 fans also. Also, run 2 wires from the tstat down the back to the rear refer area. That way you can run the fans at will which will make the refer more efficient and IF the tstat ever fails in the future, you can bypass with those 2 wires to run the fans and even test to make sure it is the tstat and not the fans. - There is a tstat on the upper rear outside conndensor fins. When that temp gets to about 120 degrees, the rear fans come ON. The fans will ALWAYS stop running anytime you open the inside lower doors. They will come back ON when you close the doors. Doug
