Good point, dcg. Underlying particle board often needs repair, at this stage.
I understand that spray-on liquid coat by Flexarmor is not DIY - the company will do it and will charge for everything - material, labor and equipment.
DIY liquid rubber (not spray-on) is surely cheaper. The only "warranty" will be your work attitude, in this case. Liquid Rubber manufacturer covers only the product, not your skills :). Appears to be pretty straightforward though. I'll try this when time comes. I think I saw it on Amazon too.
