Wiring Questions, Tail lights on Class C
hey guys! rebuilding a '79 Ford Class C, and have it down to the metal frame. the wiring is old and starting to rot, some of it is already rotted so I am replacing a lot of it. I may need to move it soon, and while it is all open like this id love to get a much wiring in as I can.
for now id like to get wiring in place for tail lights which are running/brake/turn signals, and also a handful of running lights and 2x front blinkers on the top over the cab/main bed. I've run into some weird issues, ill say I do have some experience with 120/240v systems so I know some things. what I ran into was some confusing wiring, in my hurriedness I disconnected/cut most wires, since my converter was shot and I saw rotting wiring anyway, I figured id do a clean install from the fuse box/alternator(not including these, just new wiring for lights) back.
I also noticed some off things, like the coach battery didn't seem to work, or at the very least the person who sold it to me didn't know how to turn it on, and there weren't switches. for the few nights I had it together as a camper, I left lights on with it plugged into shore power and the starter battery died. so it seems the coach battery isn't connected at all. anyway, I'm also putting in a new set of coach batteries(lithium) so I plan to allot room for them inside the camper. as such, I can wire from that battery to whatever I need to.
I have new:
all the lights I need, with proper lenses and brightness/codes
all the wiring I should need, can get more
converter ac/dc
battery
all butt connectors/connectors in the world
heat gun/crimper
I don't know if I have everything, and I certainly am not 100% on what I'm doing. the pictures included show what I found(I think) to be the current wiring for the lights, but it strangely seems to split 4 wires into 7. is this normal? also, it looks like the left hand blinker/tail light connects via a 4 prong plug, and the right hand connects directly. one of the wires is encased in some rigid blue stuff, that is brittle and rotted now. what even is that stuff, is is the ground wire? am i right in these guesses? thanks!

this picture is the best one, the cables behind the one I'm holding go into the blue connectors, and come out as these 7 colors and a 4 prong connector.
