yamaha 2400isHC and what air conditioner

Hi,

If you have a Yamaha 2400ishc generator could you tell me what Brand, model and size rv air conditioner you run with it.

I'm especially interested in ones that you have NOT had to change capicitors or make any change to the AC.

while i'm at it

anybody using a HP ac with a 2000 watt generator

thanks

  • My 2006 dometic 13500 worked with my 2400yam non hc. I think any modern 13500 would work.
  • I'm looking at a trailmanor. although the air conditioner vent hole is the standard 14 by 14 because the trailer folds 1/2 over itself the inner shroud cannot extend past a certain point. trailmanor installs the air conditioner and only uses one brand and model of 13,500. I have been trying to find a model that will fit and work with the 2400ishc for sure.
  • My older (1999) Dometic 13.5 worked after putting a start capacitor and fan delay on. My newer Dometic 15k on my 2014 Sundance sort of worked as is. It did start and run. Neither the AC or generator liked it and I didn't have enough headroom to run my interior lights after it got stabilized......

I would be interested in the feedback you get. Because I may want to set up an additional AC in my rig and maybe if I get one a little smaller I could run it on the genny in a pinch and not bother to upgrade my gen

I've run my Coleman (older model) 13.5K btu A/C and no problems cooling my 23" TT. I imagine the newer Coleman 13.5K models will be more efficient and less of a drain on the generator. I did add a start capacitor to provide an additional boost to get the A/C running.

What size trailer are you trying to cool?

    thanks

  • Consider the Coleman Mach I Power Saver if a little less power will do.
With a compressor rating of 12,690 nominal BTUs, it works well with smaller generators because of its lower amp draw which 9.3 Full Load Amps, as compared with over 14 amps for other 13,500 BTU air conditioners. Good Luck
