$ 100 Rebate Continental Tires expires 10 June

Until 10 June 2013 Continental Tire / Tire Rack has a $ 100 rebate offer .
For those that have noticed , the most logical 15 inch replacement tire for typical 15 inch ST tires is the Continental Vanco 2 tire .
This is the tire that is used on the Mercedes Sprinter Vans and motorhomes .

specs :
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=Vanco+2

if you click on the "specs" tab you will find that a Vanco 2 size has a load rating of 2470 pounds in a size of 225/70 R 15 .
it has a speed rating of 99 mph instead of the 65 mph found on traditional ST rated tires .

i just paid $ 58.70 shipping to my local installer .
at checkout tire rack lists reccommended installers for your town .
the install rates are listed there.
you can have the tires sent directly to any installer you choose .
delivery took 5 days over a weekend .

Continental passenger car tires were top rated in consumer reports November 2012 issue , pages 60 and 61 .
Vanco tires are not made in thailand where the maxxis are made .
Continental worldwide battles michelin for top volume of tires made .

the $ 100 rebate will cover your installation cost at your local dealer .
expires in 8 days .

What tire rack specifically has printed in the Contitnental Vanco 2 description .

"Highway Rib Summer light truck tires are for drivers who want a combination of heavy-duty load capacity, even wear and low noise along with traction on dry and wet roads. Sometimes used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on medium and heavy-duty 2WD trucks, vans and pickups, Highway Rib Summer tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. "

Continental calls these " "Highway Rib Summer light truck tires " .
ST use tires are a lower grade standard than these Vanco 2 .
    Vanco 2 is not a passenger "P " rated tire .

JJ is just trying to confuse the issue .
do your own due diligence, please .

  • I haven’t found a single recommendation, or suggestion that any of the Vanco tire series including the Vanco 2 or Vanco camper tire should be used for trailers…

Most rate them as heavy duty passenger tires especially designed for van use…

    Snip:
The growing demand for short-distance transport of passengers and goods also leads to increased requirements so that the performance of modern day vans nears that of passenger cars.
    Snip:
The concept of the VancoTM Camper is to use long well-proven Vanco technique, optimize its performance for distinguished motorcaravan requirements and thus cater to the needs of this specific target use.
    Snip:
The Continental Vanco Camper tyres are part of Continental’s Vanco tyre range that comprises tyres exclusively for vans.
    Snip:
The 'C' that follows the rim-diameter figure (eg. R15C) originally meant 'Camionette' (French for van or small truck). In English the 'C' is translated to 'Commercial' as an abbreviation for 'Light COMMERCIAL Vehicle'. the 'C' suffix indicates that a tyre is designed to be suitable for a commercial light truck, transporter or van. The 'C' letter has nothing to do with the Ply Rating system, nor the number of plies used in a tyre's construction.
    Snip:

Also the CP rating deals only with small van MH tires air pressure ratings and only deal with srw trucks or vans mandating and using the full sidewall air pressures only…

They seem to be a cut above extra load P rated tires but are not LT tires…
Maybe a dream come true for lawyers and insurance companies looking to pass on liability, from a accident…

This is dirrectly off the website , doesnt say a thing about not for trailer .
LT stands for light truck or light trailer . I run these tires on my trailer , they are great .

Nor does it say anything about for trailer use

Most of them are built to European sizes specs and standards that might or might not be different from ours…

This to might just disqualify many of them… “if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires’ performance category and specifications."

O.E. Highway Rib Summer light truck tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle’s original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires’ performance category and specifications."
