08 f350 v10

I'm looking at an 08 F350 v10 6 speed manual.
I will be going from my 02 f350 7.3 automatic. I'm wondering if this will be a step up in performance, or backwards, or fairly equal. The v10 has more hp than my 7.3, but less torque. I am thinking the 6 speed should help this.
  • A 2008 F350 v10 with a 6 speed manual. That unusual powertrain sounds like a winner to me.

If you like shifting, I think this would be a very appealing truck.
  • My 2009 6.8L with 4.10 does a great job. Towing mpg's around 9-9.5 and empty around town it gets 12-13 mpg's. With 362 HP and 457 Ft Lbs of torque coupled with the 6 sp/4.10 rear your performance will be good if you go that route.
  • Wow, 2008 F350 V10 6 speed manual - sounds like a great combination. There were probably very few produced.
  • Had 2008 F-350 CC SRW with 4:30 gears. Towed a 12000lb 5er for thousand of miles with no problems. Lots of power and torque. It is a small block and loves to rev so let er go.

I have had a V-10 since 2010 and I love the pulling power, but mileage is not good. I tow an 11,000 5th and it pulls great, but it only gets 7.5 towing, and about 11.4 not towing. Mine does have max tow with 4.30 gears, and its 4 wheel drive

The one I am looking at only has 4.10 gears, and with the manual tranny its GCWR is only 20,000. This is my biggest concern. That's exactly equal to what I have now.

I'd think that would be a rare combination. Most would be automatics.

Having gone from a 325hp/610tq Cummins that was chipped to about 375hp/750tq to a 6.4L Hemi with 410hp/429tq, I can tell you the towing performance between the 6.4L Hemi and the stock Cummins is about equal. The Hemi just uses higher RPM to get the job done.

Your 2002 7.3L will be either 250hp/505tq (auto trans) or 275hp/525tq (manual trans). The 2008 V10 was 362hp/457tq.

Yes, it is rare. Part of why I am interested in this one.
