Rolling coal hasn't got much to do with it. After hooking up at least a 6 inch tow strap (the 4 inch will sometimes just break) you leave lots of slack; fasten the seat belt; back the semi up a little if it will move; when the semi starts to engage his clutch to go forward you want to be hitting the end of the tow strap at about 20 mph. The little bit of traction that the pickup has is usually not enough to prevent the tow strap from recoiling the pickup backwards the times that the big truck stays stuck.
