I only had to read the first line... Price. No truck today is worth 70 grand to me. Especially when you can buy a low mileage off lease vehicle with a factory warranty for about half of what a new one cost. I believe in letting the first owner/leasee take the depreciation hit. I'm not proud. Bought my last 2 vehicles that way.
One quick observations I've seen so far. Some RVers are over-truck for their trailer. Not my business really. And then again, they must have been able to afford it: the truck, higher maintenance and gas.
Almost tempted myself as first time RVer.
Oddly, I see a lot that are 'under trucked'. Wife and I stopped at Arby's on the way home and 2 large, I mean LARGE pull behind's were in the side parking lot, both being hitched to Ford 150's. Even said to the wife it looks as though the 'tail is wagging the dog'. I've always had a 1 ton pickup but I use mine for more than RV'ing. It's a farm truck too.
And I bet those F150's you were mocking have the same if not higher tow rating as your antique 1 ton truck. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIUH I did own a FULLY built DDT trans that my Son has now so I know what I am talking about. But hey you need to tune everything to get it the way yo want. I have Zero reason to do so.

If you can't get $12-16k off on a new loaded Ram HD diesel, then you are probably doing something wrong or at the wrong dealer. Everyone I know has been able to get that much off.
Received this today.
"It's the end of the month and your wait has paid off! Hurry in and get your Ram truck while the selection is good. We need to sell 12 Rams before the close of business tomorrow!!!
Rebates and discounts have never been this high, in fact you can save over $14,000 off select 2018 Ram trucks. Please contact me via cell at 480.223.2094 or reply to this email to set up a convenient time to drop by and take home the truck of your dreams.

480.926.4000" - Me_AgainExplorer IIIInterestingly the RAM score highest by the options of three judges, however lower on the statistical parts of the test. They did not clearly state why they rated it highest.
- boshogExplorerThe TFL tests, RAM won the dyno tests and also the fuel economy tests. Strange how each mag rag has different results.
I have a RAM, my son a Duramax, his interior is louder than mine running empty. When towing the RV, the Cummins makes itself known when accelerating. - ScottGNomad

More "news", based on personal opinions of a few "experts", for the sole purpose of selling magazines. Little to do with ownership satisfaction of any of the three.
And anyone in the world of statistic will tell you a sample of one is worthless. - ShinerBockExplorerIf you can't get $12-16k off on a new loaded Ram HD diesel, then you are probably doing something wrong or at the wrong dealer. Everyone I know has been able to get that much off.

You keep saying this, I have owned BOTH and the AISIN runs like a built auto. I like the solid predictable non flaring shifts. ONLY thing I would change is to lock out the low 1st gear when running BobTail.
Not sure why you call it a "slow shifting" transmission??? I can floor it and it hits 3K or very close to it gear after gear. Nice n solid!!! NO slop.
Aisin runs like a built auto? Bahahaha! Obviously you never ran custom tuned built 68RFE, 6R140, or Allison 1000 with a built low stall speed converter because none of the Aisin trucks that my company owns drives like one. There is a noticeable slow almost pause in their shifts in comparison to a 68RFE which is more pronounces at wide open throttle. I never said the trans is not solid or that there is slop in its shifting. I am just saying that it is slow to shift from one gear to the next and it is at times in the wrong gear for the situation.
I know you hate hearing that something you own is not the best thing since Betty White, but its true and every judge at PUTC and even TFL has stated so. - mich800Explorer

A 2-3 year old truck for half price? I need to take you truck shopping with me next time I'm in the market for a new to me truck. I'll buy you a case of your favorite beer. :C
When I bought my current truck, I looked at newer used trucks first and by the time I had all the rebates on a new truck, the new truck was about the same price as buying one that was two years old on the used car lot.

First -- the prices quoted are MSRP. Take about 10K off of that right off the bat. Second, YES --- I purchased my one year old truck in my signature (in 2016) for $48K --- it's MSRP was just under $70K new. Not half the price but (I thought) a pretty good deal. BTW that came with a certified Used as well as a 8 year 120K mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
That sounds more accurate. About 20% for one year depreciation. - 996PilotExplorer
