What a great idea! Next you can change the manufactured date of your trailer tires!
And with a little practice you can roll back your odometer too! - _1nobbyExplorer

Poorly trained or dumb people can serve a purpose. - kearlmsExplorerThe stations I go to never checked them for the last 12 years that I have lived here. Then this last time I took mine in to fill they looked. Took the attendant about 10 min to find the date then he wrote it down and filled them up. What a pain. I would go to the local Propane dealer, but last time I did that I got some bad propane. Spit and sputter the whole time using it. So go to the pros that give you water filled propane tank or to a gas station where they don't know much and get it filled and not have problems.
- rbpruExplorer IIAnother meaningless regulation typically ignored by the public.
Sometime back I had couple of old tanks that could not be refilled or exchanged because they had the old style valve on them. The fact that they were bright and shiny made no difference.
I stored them for a couple of years until the valve hubbub settled down and swapped them out at a gas station. The Rhodes scholar working the counter never even came out. He just had me put the old ones in the cage on the right and take the refills from the cage on the left.
It was a good deal, the refill folks got a nice pair of tanks that they will pop a new valve in and I have a set of scratched and rusted tanks with new valves.
I doubt the kid behind the counter could or would even read a date code. - _1nobbyExplorer

Old for newer....they are minimum wage gas station cashiers and don't give a sh*t. - _1nobbyExplorerWell....until they tattoo the new date onto the Costco technician's wrist so that he can see it.......I doubt he'll take my word for it:)
They are pretty serious about keeping their license. - bob213ExplorerThanks Scott. Hope it stays at 12. Amazing how fast a thread can get diverted.
- penguin149ExplorerThe U-Haul place in Bowling Green, KY checks! Took my grill tank in and the young (college aged) girl searched all over for the date. Tank looked like new; I'd always kept it inside the grill enclosure, covered and under a patio cover....no rust, etc. Told me it was out of date and couldn't refill it. Took it to Lowe's and traded on a beat up Blue Rhino.
