17" Load Index 126 tires

Can anyone recommend a good American made 17" load index 126 tire? Is there such a thing?

It's almost time to replace my truck tires and I'd like to add cargo capacity without having to buy new rims.

Since pushing this class limit, better solution is to move up to the next class,
    commercial class

NOTE that they also weigh much more and cost much more

    I agree!

  • A problem with your request is that even though the company has plants in the USA you will not know what country they are made in UNTIL after you order unless you go to a store and make the USA made a condition of the sale.
SO you pretty much eliminate an internet sale. Head on down to a good trucking type store and talk to them about your needs. You might have to go to Kansas city to find who you need
  • Your best bet is to jump up to 18" wheels and then get 275/65/18" tires. Bridgestone (U.S, CN) makes a Revo with 3415lbs. 32.1" Dia. I've got 17" wheels as well and thinking this is the way to go. My current 245/75/17" are only rated at 3000lbs each. I could pick up 800lbs more going this route. Plus the 18" look nice:)

With that 15K Montana I can see why you would be looking to increase carrying capacity.
You would need to go to the optional 18" or 20" tires/rims for hogher tire load ratings

This is exactly why I didn't go from 16" rim on my 01 Ram to the 2nd/3rd Gen 17" wheels. I would have gone from a 3,414# rating to a 3,195# rating the loss of 440# of rear capacity was not worth it to me.

My rear axle rating is 6,084# based on the stock 245/75-16 tires (3,042#) mine has the optional 265/75-16's (3,415#). I am well with in the stock rear axle rating and now have an additional 746# of capacity.
  • Check out the truck camper forum as those folks carry 4k-6k TCs. Many change to 19.5" tires and wheels for 3800-4000 lbs capacity tires and proper brake rotor clearances.
