Would you buy a '77 Cadillac or T-Bird to use as your full-time ride? Nearly 40 years old. RV's are typically more poorly made than automobiles. Are you the mechanic in the family? Listen closely to the person that has to maintain whatever you buy? Many vacations/holidays ruined by rig failures/maintenance issues. Are parts available? Do you want to use it to camp or because you like classic/antique stuff? You get to decide, enjoy whatever you do!
(Now you know I'm the mechanic in my family. My wife thinks fondly of pioneering and Conestoga wagons, but then she never tried collecting enough buffalo chips to build a cook fire on the way to California.)
This is a very good set of advice. I Loved my 95, but it was literally a $100-300 in repairs EVERY SINGLE trip. It got to the point where I had more money in new parts on the trailer than the trailer was worth. While this made for a pretty solid old rig the rig was not exactly what I wanted so I got tired of putting $$ into it. If it had a slide and bunks I would have kept it. But it didn't so I sold it.
Remember, with an older RV the purchase price is just the price of admission.
Thanks!
