2005 GMC Duramax

Hey guys,

A friend at church is looking at the truck above, I was doing some research prior riding down possibly on Friday to take a look at it with him. We have discovered it has 107k and 2 owners. Clean as a new one from what he was told. My question is, what common issues with the series DMax should be aware of? And how long does this series of Dmax last for? I know the first gen had some injector issues and this gen has overheating issues at times? Anyway appreciate the help....
Thanks
Kris
  • The LBZ mouthpiece is one of the best upgrades you can do...did mine as soon as I bought my truck. It contributes greatly to the overheating....GM issued a TSB on it with an entire airbox changeover to '06 style. Mine only went to 210 degrees briefly on a long hill in 95 degree heat pulling 11k lbs.
  • Never had any issues with mine - traded for a 2011 for the added GVWR. Mine only had 68,000 miles on it. No overheating problems - though some have. Kept it stock except for a Silverline 4" T304 SS CAT back exhaust to let it breathe better.

I traded my 2004 for a 2005 3500 SRW for the LLY engine, slightly increased GVWR and the crew cab - the LB7's had injector issues and got a great deal on a trade in.

    Previous DAs:
2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 LT CCLB LLY SRW 4X4
    2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD SE ECLB LB7 4X4
