- bob-kirExplorerI have a 2006 LBZ that showed the same codes at 50k. It ran fine so I just kept driving it with the CEL on. At about 60k it lost power and started to smoke a little. We were in Alaska so continued our vacation and drove back to MI and other than less power and a little smoke it ran fine and got 14 MPG with a 3500lb truck camper on the back. Never went into limp. It turned out to be the vane solenoid and the vanes were stuck in one position. I think for the first 10k that the CEL was on, the vanes weren't moving in their full range but not enough to notice a loss of power or MPG.
I don't think you have to worry about getting stuck somewhere because we drove over 6k with the vanes locked in one position.
Replaced the solenoid and at now 80K no other problems. - Sue_BeeExplorerNeighbor has an 06 D/A, getting a fuel rail sensor error. He called the local diesel shop here, and the owner told him that he's been swamped with the same thing all of a sudden, after the cold snap. He suspects that bad Bio Diesel may be to blame, suggested to run Diesel 911, and then change fuel filter until the truck can be looked at.
- dennis1ExplorerDidn't take to the dealer. Light went out. Wait and see time.
- dennis1ExplorerGoing to take my 2007 LBZ to the dealer for P2563 code, Turbo vane control sensor problem. Going to see what the dealer says. I've been doing some research on the problem. Some say change the sensor and no fix. Some say change the selenoid and no fix. Some say don't bother with the time and money to do the above when it might be the Turbo. Thinking $400 for the sensor, then $400 for the selenoid or should I just change the Turbo for $3000 and get the sensor and selenoid free if that's the problem in the first place. History of the LBZ says it's going to be the Turbo. Mileage is 54K. Not going to be happy one way or the other. Why in the world does the Turbo go out at 54K?
Maybe just buy a code reader and clear out the code and continue running until it finally dies. I guess I run the risk of going into LIMP MODE and have to tow it down a mountain or some remote campsite and pay again. - dennis1ExplorerHello JumboJet. Did you take your Ram to the dealer or Diesel specialty shop to get the sensor changed? Was it expensive?
- dennis1ExplorerThat's what I think I will do also. Change the sensor. No camper on the truck until next year so not doing anything until them.

My question would be what happens when the sensor fails completely. Will it cause damage to the expensive to replace turbo or will the engine just have less power without the turbo working. Either way I would not want to have a problem while out of town with the camper on the truck.
Can't speak for a GMC but can speak for a Dodge RAM 3500. My turbo speed control sensor failed while on vacation in June. Climbing the mountains in Montana and Wyoming - CEL would light and after a few minutes boost would disappear giving a power loss. RPMs would drop and I would just downshift to keep moving with enough power to climb the hills. I could stop for a few minutes, clear the CEL and have full power until next event.
Replaced the sensor and all was good. - RedskyExplorerMy question would be what happens when the sensor fails completely. - dennis1ExplorerMy code was P2563. Diesel shop says turbo boost control sensor. Recommend to change sensor or turbo vane. Did neither. Cleared itself but comes back every so often then clears again. No loss in power or MPG. It was wait and see time.
- RedskyExplorerEarly 2007 (classic) has the LBZ engine which tends to have problems with fuel rail pressure loss from fuel supply problems. A good diesel shop (not the GM dealer) should be able to check this out and determine what is the problem and generating the codes.
