My son is looking for a TV and stumbled across a 2008 ford 3500 srw crew,king ranch interior .its only got 29000 actual miles and the price is where even Chevy guys like us are thinking.its an estate selling off.We don't really know any of the down sides to this model,are they 6.4l?any real bad service issues?Thanks.

I have nearly the same truck (F350 Dually, Lariat) only the 6.8 V10.The 6.4L engine was Ford's replacement for the (very) troubled 6.0L engine, while it had it's own issues, there were less of them then the 6.0LYou can see the 6.4L engine issues in that it was replaced already, while the 6.8L is still being produced, in two versions. The 2valve 6.8L is effectively unchanged since 2001.Personally, if the price was right, I'd get the truck

If the 6.4 diesel they are thirsty. Check the build date, there are 3 versions of the 08 and the early (job1) trucks had some issues. Take the VIN number to Ford dealer and get the update/service history.

As stated the 6.4 diesel are thirsty plus they have radiator problems. With 29k on it check to see if the radiator has been changed. Go over here and do some reading and maybe join then you can ask the guys that have one.http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/JR

I'll let a Master Ford tech tell you about the 6.4.Plus as stated they have radiator problems.Then there is the rocker arm failure problem.There are other problems, but you get the point.

Get an oasis report from dealer. Radiators are problematic. I have a 2008 6.4L. Changed one leaking hose. No other problems in 59,000 miles.Check for mods.
