2011 Ram 2500 6.7 tow capacity?

Hope I can get some quick responses on this as I am going to check out a 2011 Ram 2500 LB with a 40gal aux tank, with air bags. I have a 2010 Laredo 316RL I currently tow with a 2001 F250 (max cap 12500lb). I think I load to about 11500. Will the Ram handle the load? Does anyone know where the published specs on the 2011 Ram can be found. Thanks for the quick responses?

  • Payload & RAWR if one cares about ratings.......

Otherwise you can justify being overloaded like using air bags (which do NOT add any capacity)
  • I put 18" on my 12 2500 CTD and would have no problem loading to the RAWR of 6200lbs. My tires are good for more. The 2011 2500 is a lighter rear spring version of the 3500. Same truck otherwise.
  • I have the 18" stock tires and they're good for 3640 per tire.
  • Ok, I have an added weight of 3 additional batteries, (total of 4@ 70lb) so increased pin weight of approx. 210lb or total of 280lb. The extra pin/hitch weight might be at the limit, but with the added air bags I should be good I think? This truck has 2016 18" wheels. May need to remove the aux fuel tank because I need room for my Honda gen ~130lb.

Killer is the 6,010# rear GAWR!, based on the 17" wheels and tires @ 3,195#.
  • No problem at all, especially with the bags. I think you'll be pleased with the newer truck compared to your F250. My dad still pulls his little fifth wheel around with his 2000 7.3 and it's been a great truck for him, but it feels like a tractor compared to the newer diesels.

5th wheel trailer...PAYLOAD is going to be issue.

Look at data sticker on door jamb for payload (cargo carrying capacity)
That figure is MAX weight ---all passengers, all.any stuff in cab, all stuff in bed (hitch ---and that 40 gal fuel tank {7X40=280# plus tank} plus wet pin weight (2200 plus)

    Then RAWR......6000#

S/B doable but close on weight ratings
