I've seen high mileage claims....even on Fords. Do you believe those claims if they're made for a Ford ? ;)
If I read accounts of the type of service a truck does to accumulate those high miles...and it rings true...I do believe a number of them...not all, but a number.
BTW, I'm not anti Ford...much the opposite. Many years ago I drove MDT commercial trucks..to work my way through university.
The company I worked for primarily used Fords...E 350 DRW cargos, F 600/700's. Diesel engines weren't as prolific then...so invariably the engines were gassers. Truck 460's, couple of 300 I 6's, 370 V8's.
I have no complaints about these Ford engines. They were utterly reliable, durable under severe work and climatic conditions and just minimally maintained.
Also high mileage with some...though no million milers that I recall. Although my work then was a mix of city/highway...mostly city.
I could see however if you were on the highway continually...making deliveries...say inter city...you could rack up high miles in a hurry.
No. I wasn't brand specific with my post. I'm not a Ford loyalist. I just happen to own one. Next truck could be anything. I much prefer Dodge seats.
Those Ford engines you listed were tough and long lasting. I believe the 5.7L Hemi could hang right with them. My little 5.4L has been shown no mercy and runs like new at 75k miles. - Bird_FreakExplorer II

There you go busting the Ford haters bubble. They thought they had actually done something special!4x4ord wrote:
I would think most Cummins and Duramax equipped trucks would be capable of running up and down the highway for 500k miles in 2 - 3 years. What about the new Fords? I find the trucks that make the million mile mark over a 15 year period more impressive.
What about the new Fords? Here's one with 500k miles Wiley75 wrote:

Like Ford uses good Diesel engines?
Like the Cummins 6.7 is better than a Cummins 5.9? - Fish
You never overlook a chance to bad-mouth the 6.7 Cummins do you? Seems like almost every post you make has some sly comment about it.
It's funny to me how some of us humans feel the need to justify our decision to purchase a particular brand of truck, (or 5.9 Cummins instead of 6.7 in your case) by bad-mouthing other brands. Some folks just won't give up.
I personally think all of the 2013 heavy duty pickup trucks are very impressive. Too expensive though.
Let me clarify Wiley75!
We have a business in the form of a Ranch and a Farm that we have several trucks for our work hands. My BIL is one of several family members who has to maintain these trucks. These trucks don't pull campers or 5ver's like the many here use, but rather these are trucks used to pull massive cattle trailers into some really remote areas, down rutted gravel roads, and even rutted muddy dirt roads. These are trucks that pull fertilizer tanks to the fields, run parts, check fields on a daily basis and some are even idled for long periods just for extra lighting in the field. They are drove hard and put up wet so to speak. My BIL had a 6.7 Cummins for ~ 9 months and it simply couldn't perform reliable to either the 5.9, 6.9, 6.0, 7.3 diesels we had or have.
No go bust some of the other fanboys in this thread! And you know who your giving a free pass my friend! :W- Wiley75Explorer
