Preventing catastrophic engine failure. Change those early glow plugs boys.
Now that I'm at it, I didn't mention valve cracking problems.
I also was remiss in not mentioning the tons of turbo failures they had.
Interesting that Ford fixed ALL of these problems later on. The valve issue were listed up the 2015 in their TSB's. Pretty telling.
The glow plug clown is in error.
The cracked valve problem was poor heat treating and corrected on trucks produced after 3/28/2011.
The TSB you are referring to, I believe, was a noise problem addressed by a customer advisory on how to operate a diesel.
The ceramic turbo bearings did have a higher failure rate than later steel bearings.
Nope: Sorry but you are misinformed.
Tell that to thousands of people that had trucks bought after 3/28/2011.
Here is the TSB for the valve cracking problem with the 6.7 Powerstroke engine.Do you see the years affected?

The AERA Technical Committee offers the following information on a rough running or engine misfire on 2011-2016 Ford 6.7L diesel engines.
According to Ford TSB 16-0041 Ford will replace 8 exhaust valve because of a rough running condition on the 6.7 Powerstroke made before 2/23/2016.

PICKUP - 6.7L DIESEL ENGINE - RUNS ROUGH DURING EXHAUST REGENERATION PROCESS - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/23/2016
[************]Publication Date: March 7, 2016
FORD: 2015-2016 F-250, F-350, F-450
This article supersedes TSB 15-0106 to update the Issue Statement, Service Procedure and Part List.
ISSUE:
Some 2015-2016 F-Super Duty 250-450 Pickup vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine and built on or before 2/23/2016 may exhibit a runs rough/misfire condition only during the exhaust regeneration process. This condition typically occurs on light throttle tip in between 64-113 Km/h (40-70 MPH) and will not set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). The concern may be intermittent and a knocking noise may be present during the concern. ACTION:
Do you see the dates? Some say the valves weren't make to spec and some say the guides were too tight. Some say it was a glow plug problem. The bottom line is these engines are blowing up for whatever reason. This is the reason they made big changes to the 6.7 after 2015. If the CP4x pump doesn't get you, the valve problem will. If not that the glow plug issue will.........
If anybody asks me about an early 6.7 I tell them to stay away. BTW I do that for an CP4x truck out of warranty......Ford, GM, or Ram. Those pumps are junk IMHO.
If anybody ask me about a 2016 on up truck, I would have a preference but I would take any one of the big 3 diesels. Not so with the older ones.
