Yes ..its a half ton..the new Dodge Ram came with the air suspension.. We have the hitch they gave us with the camper and im thinking like you guys..its either not the right type hitch or not set up correctly.. Now to convince the hubby.. Hes hard headed..haha.. But we talked to this guy at camping world yesterday about the air bags and he said he would have sold us a different hitch..he said the name..neither of us remembered it..so we will be paying him a visit..they have our camper anyways..we have a shower leak they are correcting..thanks for the info! Big help!
Yeah I'm pretty certain your hitch is not distributing the weight correctly. Have you scaled it to know how much of the tongue weight is going where?
They also have a towing section ( forum) on this site with very knowledgeable people who are pro's with ball hitches. Might start a thread over there and I'm sure they will get you dialed in correctly.
Good Luck - SnGConroyExplorerYes ..its a half ton..the new Dodge Ram came with the air suspension.. Rick, I'm thinking about going with the Reese Elite drop in ball...it will fit perfectly in the center hole, will snap into place and stay....I've looked at the Anderson ultimate 5er hitch that mounts onto the ball...."ranchertx" has the same set up in his 13' on the Cummins forum and been telling me about it....He's going to be taking a bit of a towing trip sometime this weekend or next week, if I'm not mistaken and going to let me know how it works for him. Look's pretty easy and the price isn't that bad if you look around...I still have about a month and if I don't see anything happening with the adapter, I'm going to go with the drop in ball in the center hole of the truck and use the Anderson, THEN I'll be able to tell you something...

We recently purchased a 2013 laramie longhorn dodge ram truck with 5.7 hemi. Then a month or so later we decided to buy the TT.. We purchased the Dutchman Kodiak ultalite 30 ft..after having ran it for a trial camping trip last week. My husband says the front of the truck feels like its lifting off the road..any suggestions? The dodge dealership suggested the air bags.. But Camping World said with the air suspension, that is a no go..my husband also feels like hes fighting he steering..Camping world suggested a web site called steer safe..their web site doesnt lst a 2013 dodge ram..we have a trip coming up in a couple weeks that is a 12 hr drive. Of course, we will only drive halfway...we verified our towing capability..and we are well under the amount. Appreciatevany help!
As stated, sounds like you need a weight distribution hitch. IF you already have one, sounds like it's not set up correctly...I'm "assuming" this is a 1/2 ton truck since you stated it had air suspension? - NC_HaulerExplorerRick, I'm thinking about going with the Reese Elite drop in ball...it will fit perfectly in the center hole, will snap into place and stay....I've looked at the Anderson ultimate 5er hitch that mounts onto the ball...."ranchertx" has the same set up in his 13' on the Cummins forum and been telling me about it....He's going to be taking a bit of a towing trip sometime this weekend or next week, if I'm not mistaken and going to let me know how it works for him. - Paul_ClancyExplorerSounds like you need an equalizer hitch. With proper tension on the spring bars you should sit level.

Jim, remember my measurement is with my toolbox and 60 gallon aux diesel tank full. It may sit higher than 58.5 empty.
Good point..all I have in the bed of my truck is a toolbox that is up against the back wall, a low profile type that may have a 100# in it..other than that, I'm empty...
Am I crazy or has anyone else looked at a side shot of these 2013 3500 4X4 dually's and think, like me, that they are setting more level than in 2010? That the back end isn't as high up in the air as before? :h
This one certainly is :B
But I have noticed the last few years they have not had as much of a rake as the 3rd gen's. Like I said mine squat's a good 4" with the pin on it which makes it pretty level hitched up. That's why I want to see the mythical 2013 hitched up :B to some good weight. If it don't squat much, my clearance will be lowered. Guess that magical hitch is on the way though, just like Christmas and world peace.
