Payload is the area Toyota lags behind in for sure. It will be interesting if they offer something like a max tow package for 2014.
They did not. I've seen pictures of the 2014 and read some specs. They chisled the exterior a little and came up with a nice interior, but the drive train and capacities are the same. Toyota has had seven years to come up with a truck for the HD towing market. That's why I'm driving a new F250. I loved my Tundra but the payload just wasn't there and isn't going be for a long time, if ever.
They seem to be happy with their share of the 1/2 ton towing market. I'm happy for them.
