Put a set of long travel airbags and the PW can handle a 10-15k lbs trailer much better and safer than any 1/2 ton, regardless of ratings.
A 11.5" + 14" brakes + huge beafy 50ksi frame = unsurpassed trailer control.
Remember, when it comes to DOT, they only look at axle/tire ratings (whichever is lower) and the registered GVW. Factory "GVWR" and "GCWR" are more to do with powertrain warranty than safety.
This is what I would think about doing. I get up in the dirt and some pretty rough stuff, especially up hunting. I wish funds would allow me to have a dedicated TV and then a kick a$$ jeep.
