I recently got a new TH that weighs 24000 loaded and after looking around am considering a 2015 f350 w 4:30 gearing rated to haul 26.5k. my question is does anyone that has one of these have any feedback on how they do?

24k on a 350? I can't find any towing specs that say that. Where did you find that information?

The 2015 Super Duty brochure states that F-350 with 4:30 gears can tow(5th wheel/goose neck) 26,700, but is limited to 26,500 because of the hitch.Bumper pull is 19,000.

I've got a 2015 F450 which has the 4.3 gearing. But, my toy hauler weighs much less than your DRV. Personally, I'd get an F450, basically the same price as a decked out F350. I think the sticker on mine was $72,000 or $73,000. It's the King Ranch, black carpet, and I love the interior. It doesn't have the rear heated seats which I wanted but could not find and also does not have the engine block heater. These are low cost items but this truck had everything else I wanted and I could not find one with every single option.In my opinion, when you get in to 5th wheels at those weights you need all the truck you can get. I would see no reason to get an F350 over an F450. Bigger suspension, bigger brakes, bigger wheels, commercial rated tires. I don't know all the weights on the Max Tow F350 but you do get some suspension and brake upgrades on the F450.It seems some have had issues regarding registration on the F450's, especially in California. I had no issues in Texas. I wished I could get 10mpg... TH is 19,900lbs, pin weight 3,800lbs, Truck's weight 10,000lbs... We get about 8 - 8.5mpg, and that is at 55-60mph. I take the grades slower, no reason to tear my equipment up trying to get somewhere 5 minutes sooner.

I certainly see your point in regards to carrying/controlling/stopping that kind of weight, but with the power specs on today's diesels, the uphill part will be no problem at all. Even most MDTs can't beat 440hp/860 torque.

I have a 2015 F350 with the specs you want....we just rolled 10k mikes and she is strong....our Voltage 3950 left us with 1000lbs CCC when hitched up (people and dog included), but we added a Transferflow tank in the bed and the truck gets fueled based on how much we weigh for each trip. She is a beast, but a great vehicle to drive.

I chose this 350 because it basically mimics a 450, but with cheaper insurance, registration, and tires (don't need the bigger commercial tires).

The wide stance front end makes people stand with their mouths open, I can make some nice u turns.

I can't imagine pulling 24,000lbs up any kind of hill with a 350, 450, or even a 550. You're deep into MDT/HDT territory with that kind of weight.

License/Insurance can be a hassle, but it's doable. The last thing you want is a commercial registration requiring weigh station stops.

IIRC the Ford's transmission ratios are slightly different, making the 4.10 Ram and 4.30 Ford very close in overall gear ratio. Even if the trans ratios were the same, not much difference from 4.10 to 4.30. At my work we have an F550 with 4.88 gears and it still only turns around 2200 rpm at 60 mph.

I don't think any of the 2012 RAM 3500's were rated to tow that much weight. I am pretty sure mine is rated around 19,500, and it has the max tow and 410s.

The 2013 + RAM with Max Tow and Aisin would be rated to tow that weight.

I guess if you must have the 4.30s to tow the weight, you are kind of stuck. Personally, I wouldn't want that low of gearing. I feel that my 410s are too much, but I am not towing the kind of weight you are talking about.

Yes, i have the regular automatic and 373 gears, not rated to haul the weight.
