That truck should not be rated to tow 29,000 lbs. SAE rating or not, that is just a rediculous amount of weight for that thing to tow. I would be hard pressed to rate it at what it did tow in the video.
San Antonio is pretty close to Katy right? :W In a Ford it's most likely only a gallon of fuel. Yeah J2807 is a joke to those who don't comply. Lets just wait till next year to verify. I'm sure Ronnie would not accept this method.

Then Ford shouldn't rate their F450 to tow 30,000# either. It's all a contest by the respective advertising departments - no matter the brand. They ALL do it - Ford, GM, and RAM.
I am with you that Ford(or any brand) shouldn't rate it that high either which is why I said this.....ShinerBock wrote:
That is fine, I don't think trucks like that should be towing 30,000 lbs in the first place. That should be left to medium duty commercial trucks. This "30,000 lbs towing battle" that Ford and Ram are doing is senseless which is why I applaud GM for staying out of it.

But isn't the Ford F450 a medium duty truck so it should be legit to pull 31k pounds?- jus2shyExplorerMy only thought on that, is that a medium duty truck towing the same load would have about the same horsepower. Most medium duty trucks are equipped with an ISL motor (or the same class of motor) which tops out at around 380 HP in commercial duty. You won't see more horsepower until you start looking at Class 7/8 trucks. So you will have even slower towing performance speed/acceleration wise with a medium duty truck (but a more competent chassis to handle the load for braking and handling).

Why? In today's day and age with everyone wanting to sue someone for an easy pay day I would say they have more than dotted their I crossed their T on research and development. If there were any liability with it being rated that high they wouldn't sell it. - ACZLExplorer4.10 gears
