- ib516Explorer II2 mpg better for the Ram with the 4.10s. I guess you have to pay for the extra 55 ponies the Ford makes, even with the 3.73s.

Hey thanks for posting these.
I would guess the trucks are similar in mileage. RAM did NOT get 14.2!
Aint too hard, fill to top, drive, fill to top at same location divide gallons into miles. - buddyIamExplorerCummins,
They were towing less than half what you do. And at 65mph on flat road using the speed control. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

I think everyone knows I am a RAM/CUMMINS guy but there is no way that truck got 14mpg on such a short run. Maybe run 300 miles the 14 would be possible. The Lie O Meter is more accurate under this condition.
This fill two click is a joke! Fill the SOB to the top until fuel starts running out that is the only way the test can be fair. Also same pump matters also, at least they did that.
I agree the capless fill is a joke! I will be getting a cap from Geno's for mine.
Kent get that missing tooth fixed!
How often do you have to refill the DEF on your Ram empty and towing?
I have no idea! Have just over 1K on it and the needle is still on full. - ib516Explorer II
- buddyIamExplorerWhy wouldn't you want to refill DEF everytime you refill diesel. Wouldn't that help keep the DEF fresh?
By the way, according to the video. The Dodge was 70 lbs heavier than the Ford.
Ram 2 mpg better than the Ford. - GBuildersExplorer

I don't feel that the short distance used and relying on foam to click off the pump would give an accurate number. If one of the trucks has a filler neck better suited to not backing up in the neck it will really skew the numbers.
I fill up to the click off and I'm right in line with the computer but to get a real test run trucks through a full tank and a regen and see what happens.
I agree that to measure fuel economy on a diesel it needs to include a regen because the regen frequency will have a significant impact on the mpg results. Anything less is misleading.
Whatever the outcome is, this test is invalid IMHO. In addition to have the computer mpg off by this much from the hand calculated mpg results don't pass the smell test.
