2016 Ford 250, 350 Super Duty

F250 3.55 20" tires. I usually run @ 65 mph & get about 11.5 mpg w/ 11.5k 5th wheel. Tow mode engaged all the time when pulling.

What did you think you were going to get?

Just made 1400 (600 miles one way) mile round trip to the Black Hills, combined mileage was 10.3 mph. This truck is awesome.

Should get between 11-11.5 us with that light weight.

The difference in tire diameter is the reason for the different gearing. There should be no difference in fuel usage. The snow plow preparation package will get you the 3.55's with 18" tires, that is the best option for heavy towing.

We had a 2010 Duramax and 2011 F350. We traded them in on two 2016 F350's. The 2016 has a much better exhaust brake but the '11 did better on fuel. If I could do it again I would have got King Ranches with the 3:31 gears instead of the Platinums with the 3:55's. The 3:31 gets much better fuel economy. (I believe it is tuned different, because the rpm difference that the two trucks run at is minimal .... 3:31 with 18' rims vs the 3:55 with 20's.)

Hubs has a 2015 350 Platinum and absolutely loves it, no problems at all so far (still has under 10k on it though). He bought it around this time of year last year (so right when the 2016s were coming out) and got a killer deal on it. Well under sticker.

Someone will chime in about the CP4 fuel pump problem. But that was apparently in the early 6.7s and no longer a problem. My 2012 F350 6.7 bought new in July 2012 has been great. Go with the F350 for very few dollars more, and greater payload rating.

Actually now is a great time to buy a 2016. Large end of year discounts are being offered, locally at least. Recent advertisement showed $14,000 off sticker. That is the same I got off sticker on mine in July 2012. Makes that price tag a little more bearable.

I have a 2012 F-350 with the 6.7l which I couldn't be more happy with. If I were you, though, I'd wait for the redesigned 2017.
